How to Give First Aid Correctly after Shock

Shock is a syndrome of severe ischemia and anoxia of vital organs (brain, heart, lung, kidney and liver) caused by sharp decrease of effective circulating blood volume and systemic microcirculation disturbance. Its typical manifestations are pale complexion, wet and cold limbs, lower blood pressure, weak pulse and blurred mind.

First aid for shock:

1. In the supine position, the lower limbs should be slightly raised to facilitate venous blood reflux. If you have difficulty breathing, raise your head and torso a little to facilitate breathing.

2, keep respiratory tract unobstructed, especially shock with coma. The method is to elevate the patient's neck and lower jaw, so that the head can be tilted back to the maximum extent while the head is tilted to one side to prevent vomitus and secretions from inhaling into the respiratory tract by mistake.

3, pay attention to keep warm for shock patients with hypothermia, cover with quilt and blanket. However, septic shock patients with high fever should be cooled down.

4. Necessary initial treatment. Shock caused by traumatic fracture should be treated with pain relief and fracture fixation. Irritated people can be given appropriate sedatives; Cardiogenic shock was given oxygen inhalation, etc.

5. Pay attention to the transportation of patients. The rescue conditions at home are limited, and they need to be sent to a hospital with conditions as soon as possible. The lighter the transport, the less the better for shock patients. It is advisable to send them to the hospital nearest to home.

It should be noted that special personnel should be assigned to take care of the patients during transportation and observe the changes of the disease condition at any time. It is best to take first aid measures such as oxygen inhalation and intravenous infusion to the patients during transportation.
